Calling all fans of Facebook

Are you on Facebook, the popular Internet social networking site? If so, you can become a “fan” of several entities in the diocese.

Fan pages not only connect people with similar interests, but posts to those pages appear in fans’ Facebook news feeds.

Some churches have Facebook groups that facilitate discussion among group members. Posts to groups don’t show up in news feeds. Among those are:

Need help starting a Facebook fan page for your church? Diocesan Director of Communications Melodie Woerman is happy to help. Contact her at mwoerman@episcopal-ks.org, (785) 235-9255 or (800) 473-3563.

The Church of the Covenant, Junction City , now has a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/edit/?id=290305509868#!/pages/Junction-City-KS/Episcopal-Church-of-the-Covenant/106154309422054

A note about “fan” pages: Facebook has changed “fan” pages to “like” pages. To become “associated” with a page on Facebook, you now click the “like” button at the top of that page. Don’t confuse this with “liking” someone’s status update. The word’s the same, but the action is different. Always go to the page you want to support, and look for the button just to the right of the page name.

Want to find pages of parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas ? They’re all listed as favorites on the diocesan Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/EpiscopalDioceseofKansas . Look for the list on the left side of that page.
